Stark Infantry Shield

"My shield #0149 came in the mail today and it is awesome. The felt on the inside wasn't in peak condition, but that side is going to be facing the wall anyway. It is burnished steel and not nearly as shiny as the pictures on this site make it out to be. Thats fine by me because I don't need it reflecting light at me while I watch tv.
Next up from Valerian Steel should be Oath Keeper, a Dothraki arakh, Meera's frog spear and Joffrey's crossbow."

"My shield arrived super fast to the UK so weldone VS! Like the other reviewer said it is not as shiny as the pictures but the colour is beautiful. I haven't put it on the wall yet but can't wait to display it with Longclaw, Ice and Robb's sword (I know I'm mixing and matching GOT with ASOIAF products but I think it will look awesome as a display). The best thing is the wolf's head detail that the pictures here do not do justice. Very very happy with this product."

"To be honest, I love every single item you guys make, including this shield. The size is perfect, the details and everything. One thing I was not so convinced about it the color, in the picture it shows you the shield as if it was metallic silver-ish but the real thing is kind of dark matte grey. I guess it's all about the lighting. Anyways, thanks for this masterpiece."

"I heard some not so nice reviews on the Stark shield but decided to get it for my husband, and, of course, myself. I'm glad we didn't listen, looks stunning with the swords and Hounds Helm in our Living room!"

"I feel my first review was a bit harsh, it certainly deserves 3 stars at least. It's grown on me a little bit since first opening it, and it does look lovely on the wall, and when the morning sun hits it just right it is quite beautiful. It's easy to put up and comes with good, clear instructions. I still stand by my earlier review that it's not the best and if you don't like it please do NOT be put off from buying the other things because they are superb. But wanted to clarify that this is still quite a nice item."

"Hello all,
I too love my Stark Infantry Sheild....BUT, the color is completely different from the pictures. It's a very DULL grey and not silver at all.
Please change your pictures so its not misleading anymore.
Thanks,
Tim Stark"

"This is a difficult review to leave, because I've never been overly disappointed with a collectible before, but I feel the need to warn folks intending to purchase this.
This shield is not impressive.
As the previous reviewer stated, this shield is not nearly as shiny as the pictures, but it goes a bit beyond that. The embossed sigil is very weak at best, and unless you shine a light directly on it, it's not really all that recognizable. The image leads you to believe it is sharp and crisp, but it's really quite dull and rounded. Now, while the shield is not shiny, it's also just downright dull. My best explanation would be that it looks as though it was spray painted grey.
This is my first purchase from Valyrian Steel, and I'm sad to say it may be my last. Being that this is one of the more expensive pieces I've purchased, I'm fairly disappointed with the quality of this product. It is not worth the price.
This is probably only going to please the most die-hard fans out there. If you're on the fence, I'd suggest moving on. VS Response: One of the issues is that the shield prototype picture is under heavy studio lighting, and it just doesn't look the same under normal home lights (the actual prop was also actually painted grey (Stark colors) so the replica is too. We find that if you take the shield outside on a sunny day it show the finish better."

"I own Longclaw, Ice, Robb Stark's Sword and Needle, and I plan to buy more as time goes on and more get released.... however, this shield really lets the side down considering how expensive it is. It sounds and feels flimsy, it's finish looks like a rushed paint job, and the images on here do make it look shinier than it is. If it wasn't part of the set and I hadn't waited so long for it, I did toy with returning it for a refund. If you really want it and it completes your set, then go for it, BUT if you're on the fence, it may be best not to bother with this one, it's a real shame because ALL the other products are superb quality and really do justice to the real life counterparts. Please if you bought this first, do NOT be put off by buying from VS, this is a rare blip in their otherwise excellent quality products."
