Here is Needle, at last. We finally got the approvals from GRRM so we’re good to go to start mass production. Preordering should start very soon, within a week. Needle is a full tang high carbon steel blade, that comes with a plaque bearing the true Stark colors of grey on white. It’ll have a 24 inch blade and be about 30 inches overall.

Looks awesome…Can’t wait to order it! Has the price been finalized yet? Also, is the plaque the same size as Longclaw’s?

Any idea when you will have actual photos and not just a Photoshop rendering?

  5. That is an actual photo. Professionally retouched of course, but an actual photo.

Needle will be $190 I believe we already announced. Shipping we’re not sure on yet because we haven’t gotten final box size dimensions, but domestic shipping is likely to be around $10. Canada $30. $50 to most of Europe. $60 to Australia. Needle is shorter so within the length limit for Australia so it can go by the cheaper method, as opposed to Longclaw that had to go expensive UPS air. All those countries that had multi-hundred dollar shipping costs with Longclaw should have costs less than $100 with Needle. These are all estimates and may change, though likely not by much.

It looks magnificent, and gives off a different vibe than Longclaw.

Will there be signed certificates of authenticity posted with these as well?

Will there be credit card pre-purchasing from the outset?

  11. You’re more than welcome to have it sharpened yourself. If we sold it sharpened it would not be allowed to be imported into many countries as many places consider double edged blades less than 30 inches to be concealable and so they are banned. Australia and the UK for instance.

Yes, it will come with a COA signed by GRRM, and yes you’ll be able to buy with a CC from the outset.

Because it is a high carbon steel blade, does it need certain maintenance. And if so, will directions be provided?

  13. Dale on June 25, 2009 at 8:49 pm said:

    yes good question Doug.

  14. We do not plan on including directions, but may post something online. The big things are of course keeping it dry, free of fingerprints, and away from high humidity. There are a myriad of polishes and other protective substances you can use to treat metal products to prevent any rust.

Huh…I always thought that needle was some sort of epee

  16. I apologize if this has been asked/answered already.
Is there any chance that Needle will be produced in damascus?

  17. No, only valyrian steel weapons will be done in damascus, needle was just plain castle-forged steel.
